Two Dried Leaves

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you take my insurance?

I presently am in network with Aetna, Medicare, Humana Medicare, Optum (United Healthcare), and UMR. I am not in network with Anthem. It is up to you to contact your insurance company to determine what your mental health coverage deductible, co-payments or co-insurance are.

What if you don't take my insurance?

I am able to offer an out of network billing option (Mentaya) for those clients who choose to pay a fee for my services directly. After the direct rate is paid (which we negotiate prior to your first session) I can file a claim for out-of-network services directly with Mentaya, who will take a percentage of what insurance covers to pay for the service. Alternatively, I will provide you with a superbill for sessions which you may use to file a claim yourself.

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

I do not offer sliding scale rates in the traditional sense. If you feel you require a rate lower than I have offered due to financial circumstances, you may request a negotiation for a lower rate in our initial session or when your circumstances change.

What types of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, and credit card, and you may also use your HSA/FSA card. Your FSA and HSA card may only be used for appointments, and will not cover other fees such as late cancellations.

How long does each therapy session take?

A therapy hour is 55 minutes long. We might also meet for a 40 minute session if the nature of the issue is not severe or complex.

What should I expect at the intake (first) session?

The intake session is 55 minutes long. We will discuss the reason you are seeking therapy at this time, and walk through the consent to treatment contract. I will also obtain enough information to provide a provisional diagnosis. This time is useful to get to know one another and see whether we a good fit for continued therapy.

What if I don't think we are a good match for therapy?

It is very important to your healing and success that you find a professional with whom you are comfortable. We may discover in the first few appointments that we are not a good match. In that case, I will work with you to look at alternative clinicians based upon your particular needs.

What types of clients do you work with?

I work with adults 21 years or older. I am LGBTQIA and kink/poly friendly, but am not WPATH or otherwise trained. In addition to the specialties listed on another page, I work with folks dealing with anxiety, depression, and situational stressors.
